emilio huerta, university of california
A soccer standout from Northern California, Emilio Huerta has extensive experience in all levels of athletics. Born and raised in the heart of the Silicon Valley, Emilio seized the opportunity to play for the US Youth National Team at the age of 14. Since then, he has gone on to play at a Major League Soccer (MLS) Youth Development Academy and two prestigious Division 1 Universities: San Diego State University and the University of California, Riverside. As a team captain his senior year at UC Riverside, Emilio managed to excel in athletics and academics, leading to an internship in his own athletic department. Upon finishing his senior year as a Highlander, Emilio picked up academic accolades by being placed on the BIG WEST Commissioner’s Honor Roll and UC Riverside’s Dean’s List.
In Fall 2017, while completing his final quarter of his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Emilio began his work as an Academic Support Services Intern at his Alma Mater. He currently meets with student-athletes to provide weekly planning for time management and assists them in all aspects of academic success. He also assists with academic advisement and is currently learning the academic eligibility certification process. In addition to his duties in Academic Support Services, Emilio volunteers his time coaching two youth soccer teams and assists the UC Riverside men’s soccer coaching staff with their everyday operations on and off the field. Emilio’s passion for helping student-athletes discover and achieve their goals inside and outside their respective sports has prompted his interest in finding the best ways to maximize success on and off the field. Working to enhance the student-athlete experience through academic success, coaching, and athletic administration are all careers that Emilio would love to get into.
