Dr. Colin Williams, RISE

Collin Williams Jr. is an educator, author and researcher addressing race and other diverse issues through the lens of sports. As a Regional Director of Leadership & Education Programs, Collin develops, executes and expands RISE’s education and leadership programs throughout the South, collaborating with internal and external partners to identify training needs and strategies.

Previously, he worked in social responsibility and player programs for the NBA and as assistant director of player engagement for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. As a doctoral student of higher education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, Collin served as a research associate and campus climate consultant at the Center for the Study of Race & Equity in Education, as well as an instructor of a graduate-level interactive seminar course on issues of diversity in the United States.

Featured in more than 300 national and local media outlets, his research explores how undergraduates’ social experiences influence engagement, academic performance, campus climate and post-college outcomes, especially for students and athletes of color from low-income, first-generation college and other underrepresented backgrounds. Collin earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology and Africana studies and his doctorate in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania.

I was born and raised in Stockton, CA and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2010. After college, I moved to San Francisco for a few years and made my way to Chicago in 2013 where I currently reside. I spend my spare time with my pup at dog parks, taking online courses, cooking, taking spin classes, attempting Bikram Yoga and  watching Dateline episodes.

Trevor Moawad, Moawad Consulting GRoup

Moawad was raised in Washington State and is the son of world renowned peak performance educator, the late Bob Moawad. Bob was an original contributor to ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ and is the former President of the National Association for Self-Esteem.

As an athlete, Moawad was inducted into the athletic hall of fame at Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma, Washington, and was a two-sport athlete at Occidental College, the same school that produced both Jack Kemp and Barack Obama.  At Occidental, Moawad received both his Bachelors degree and Masters Degree in Politics and Education, respectively.

Moawad continues to be a thought leader in the performance space appearing consistently in the global media including ESPN, SI, Fox Sports, NPR, USA Today, The Herald Tribune, Outside the Lines and a number of national, regional and local outlets.

Derek Watford, High Point Gamers

As the Founder of High Point Gamer, Derek Watford provide esports consulting for forward thinking businesses and organizations. He is a competitive gamer with over 20 years of branding and design experience. He also served honorably in the US ARMY. In 2017, he produced over 30 esports events, some with globally recognized athletes. He has worked with Hall-of-Famer Tracy McGrady, NBA Champ Marreese Speights, 2x Pro Bowler Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and WNBA Champ Candice Dupree, to name a few. Derek started the STIX-to-GLORY Scholarship Gaming Tournament. This gaming tournament was the first scholarship gaming tournament of it’s kind in Pinellas County.

 

Derek has cultivated over 20 years of branding and design experience. As an award-winning designer, he has been responsible for “brand-enhancing” over 200 influencers and businesses. He is sought after to provide consulting, creative direction and photos to help brands garner attention and industry respect. For over 5 years, he has operated his own photography and music studio in Tampa, Florida. This studio provides a place for emerging talents to create and it allows Derek to keep a pulse on growing influencers and trends. Derek resides in Tampa, Florida with his wife and two children.
